Allianz Names New Environmental Practice Group Leader in North America

Press release | February 1, 2021 | New York

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) announced today that Steve Tagert has been promoted to Regional Environmental Practice Group Leader in North America, reporting to Dieter Hautzer, Regional Head of Liability.

In his new role, Tagert is responsible for managing the Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) team and steering the portfolio in both the US and Canada. EIL forms an integral part of AGCS’ Global Liability practice and focuses on delivering insurance solutions that enable clients to evaluate, mitigate and protect against risks pertaining to environmental damage.

Previously an Executive Underwriter on the Liability team, Tagert brings to his new role more than 20 years of results-driven experience as an underwriter, manager and product specialist in the environmental insurance industry. Prior to joining AGCS in 2016, he held senior roles in underwriting, product line and general management with AIG and XL.

“I’m thrilled that Steve will join our North American Liability leadership team. He is a dynamic individual with a strong track record of achievement at every stop,” said Hautzer. “While at AGCS, he’s developed a multi-million dollar book of environmental insurance business, and provided visionary underwriting and sales leadership in a highly competitive market. He has strong management skills which promise to drive results and help us exceed our business goals.”

“Steve has been a model of success throughout his career,” added Arthur Lu, Global Head of EIL “I’m extremely proud of his accomplishments while at AGCS and his ascension to this new role. His background is a perfect fit in the NEW AGCS transformation model where underwriting technical excellence is paramount to the company’s success.”
