Corinne Cipière appointed Deputy Country Manager of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE in France and Head of Market Management for the Mediterranean region.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), the specialty and industrial risk insurer of the Allianz Group, announces the appointment of Corinne Cipière as Deputy Country manager for AGCS’ French branch.

She will succeed Thierry van Santen (61), Country manager of AGCS in France since 2009, after a one-year transition period, subject to approval by the regulator.  At the end of the handover process, Mr. van Santen will focus on other assignments within the Allianz Group.

She will also be taking over as Head of Market Management for AGCS’ Mediterranean Region (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Maghreb) and will report directly to Patrick Thiels, General Manager of AGCS for this region.

The Mediterranean Region of AGCS generated 14% of AGCS’ overall premium volume of EUR 8.1 billion in 2015. AGCS’ French branch offers the full range of risk consulting and corporate insurance solutions and contributes the lion share to the regional revenues of the insurer’s Mediterranean Region.

Corinne Cipière (39) was previously Managing Director of Royal Sun Alliance France. Prior to that, she worked for Marsh since 2002 in several roles, including as an advisor to its French CEO, Change Management Consultant,  Head of Strategy, Marketing and Communication, and Executive Committee member.

She was also President of the Union of Young French Insurance Professionals (UJARF) from 2014 until 2015.

She is a graduate of the École Polytechnique in France and holds a Masters of Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States.

Patrick Thiels, General Manager of AGCS for the Mediterranean Region comments: “Corinne is an excellent choice to succeed Thierry, who has done so much to build AGCS’s outstanding reputation in France and beyond since he took over in 2009. I’m delighted that she will be working closely with him over the next year to ensure a smooth handover for this important role. Her wide-ranging market experience is also an ideal fit for her role as our Mediterranean Region Head of Market Management, where she will lead our sales, distribution and customer relations across the region.”

Thierry van Santen, Country manager of AGCS’ French branch adds: “I am particularly pleased that Corinne will be taking over from me, as I have the greatest respect for her professional expertise and deep  understanding of the market. I know that under her leadership, the team at AGCS in France will continue to deliver the high standard of service that our clients and brokers rely on.”
